Auby the Blue Turtle
Chapter 1: The Little Turtle with Big Dreams

Once upon a time, a blue turtle egg lay on a golden sandy beach beside a big, sparkling
ocean.
Inside the egg was a very special baby turtle called Auby. Auby had four blue flippers and big, shiny brown eyes. He was growing bigger and bigger inside his warm little shell, and every time he moved, tiny cracks spread like a frost-pattern across a windowpane.
“Don’t come out too soon, Auby,” his mummy would say gently
whenever he wriggled and rolled too much.
His mummy loved to tell him stories about the ocean—stories full of wonder and all the
magical sea creatures that lived beneath the waves. Auby enjoyed listening to his mummy,
and he would close his eyes and imagine swimming through glowing coral gardens and
dancing with silver fish. He couldn’t wait to explore the sea himself.
That particular day, the sun shone brighter than ever, and the ocean sparkled like a blanket
of diamonds scattered across the water.
It was time for Auby to be born with a tiny wiggle and a gentle crack; Auby pushed his little
head out of his shell.
“Hello,” Auby said softly to his mummy.
His mummy smiled and kissed his little shiny nose.
“Hello, my baby boy. Welcome to the world,” she said, wrapping her flipper around him
gently.
Auby was one of a kind. Most turtles were green or brown, but Auby was blue like the ocean
at twilight. Most turtles were happy to drift and swim with the other sea creatures, but not
Auby. He dreamed of exciting adventures, mysterious waves, and faraway places across the
endless sea.
His wonderful dreams were soon to become true.
