Auby the Blue Turtle

The alarm that was ringing through the orange coral reef was for Auby’s mummy, and his daddy had already rushed off to rescue her. She had been swimming in the ocean when the nasty fish king, King Fang Tooth, captured her.

King Fang Tooth ruled the City of the Deep. He was ugly and fierce, and he could only see through one eye. Years ago, Auby’s daddy had injured the king in a fight, and the king had lost his vision in his eye. Now, King Fang Tooth had taken Auby’s mummy prisoner for revenge.

Auby swam faster than he had ever swum before, trying to catch up with his daddy.
“Wait for us, Auby!” Peekay and Forna called as they struggled to keep up.

When Auby reached the edge of the City of the Deep, he saw something that made his heart drop—King Fang Tooth’s army had captured his mummy and daddy too.

Peekay and Forna swam quickly to Auby, and together they came up with a plan to rescue
his mummy and daddy. But there was no time to waste.

“Come on, let’s go!” Auby said bravely.

Forna and Peekay held tightly onto one of Auby’s flippers. Auby swam straight to the gates of the City of the Deep and used his super strength to power-slap a dragonfish soldier who was guarding the entrance beside a glass squid.

He lifted a squid into the air with his superpowers and pushed it aside through the water.
Auby and his friends raced through the gates and reached the prison. Auby used all his
strength to bend the prison bars wide open, freeing his mummy and daddy before the king’s army could react.

It all happened so quickly that the guards were left spinning in the water.

Auby, his mummy, daddy, and his friends swam away together toward the warmer waters
near the shoreline, through soft swaying seaweed.

Auby watched as his mummy returned to the sandy beach where she had laid her eggs.
“I love you, Auby!” she called proudly, her voice full of joy and relief.

Auby’s mummy was so proud of her brave baby turtle and so happy to be back safely.

“I love you, Mummy!” Auby called back, waving his flipper as the ocean sparkled around
them.
