Auby the Blue Turtle
Chapter 6: The Three Blue Turtles and Their Special Powers

“Daddy, why am I blue and you and mummy are green?” Auby asked as he swam gently by his daddy’s side.
“You are just like your grandad,” his daddy replied.
“There have only ever been three blue sea turtles in the ocean: you, your grandad, and your great-grandad. You all have special powers, and you will need to learn how to use them properly.”
“Really? Wow!” Auby said, his eyes wide with excitement.
“What are my superpowers?”
“You will be able to swim faster and be stronger than any other turtle in the ocean,” his
daddy told him proudly.
Later, the two turtles rested and ate food on the quiet side of the coral reef. Auby began to
feel sleepy, so he tucked himself under his daddy’s large flipper and drifted off into a gentle
sleep.
His daddy watched him carefully. He knew Auby was special—and he also knew he would
need to teach him about the dangers of the ocean. Not everything in the deep blue sea was calm and safe.
Suddenly, a loud noise echoed through the water. Auby woke with a start.
“Stay with your friends, Auby. I need to go and find out what has happened,” his daddy said
firmly, before swimming off quickly into the distance.
“What’s going on?” Auby asked as he swam back to Forna and Peekay.
“It’s an alarm,” Peekay said nervously.
“It means something is wrong… and your daddy has
to go and find out what happened.”
Auby felt a twist of worry in his tummy.
He wanted to help his daddy. After all, he had superpowers now… and maybe his daddy
would need him.
Without another thought, Auby began to swim towards the reef gates, following his daddy
and the other sea creatures who protected the orange coral reef.
Peekay and Forna tried to follow him, but Auby was swimming so fast now that they could
not keep up at all.
