What is a business content strategy? Part 1.

What is a business content strategy? Part 1.

Your business content strategy is a plan to use content to achieve marketing goals, whether written, visual or audio - online or offline.

The aim is to attract your target audience.

Incorporating a content strategy into your business plan is highly recommended.

How can you measure the return on investment when using a content strategy?

Your return on investment (ROI) in an online content strategy will be revealed by using your website and social media analytics and asking customers how they found out about your business and services.

For example:

  • Did they find you by searching online?

  • Did they find you through a social media platform or an online ad?

  • Did they see an article you published with a link to your website?

For offline content:

  • Did they contact you because they had a business card, a flyer or a brochure?

  • Did they listen to a podcast that you made?

  • Did they see a banner or shop front or was it word of mouth?

Hopefully, the answer is yes to at least one of those questions. In this case, you will know your content strategy is working online and or offline. You will be able to see what content appeals to customers and through what channels.

Here is a little exercise you can do. Let's gather some information about your business and other businesses offering the same services or products as you.

Where are you and your business online? What offline content marketing do you do?

Make notes.

Where is your business competition? What are those businesses doing with their content?

Do your research.
